Although this was not one of our projects for 2D-Design I felt it was necessary for my art blog! This was my final presentation for my Ceramics Studio Practicum Class. I focused on creating a clear glaze, 6" Jars with lids, cup forms, sgrafitto, and my very own berryblue glaze! I cant wait for next semester because my goal is to make a new glaze as well as bigger jars!! 

This was our Collaborative Group Project and the objective was to find natural material and make a natural installation artistic piece so that it was a part of nature and not necessarily considered littering because the material was collected from nature. We had to chose a natural material that we had an abundance of. My partner was Andre and we decided to make a spiral out of hay and we use the man hole as a center of focus as well as sticks to help keep the hay in place. I really enjoyed doing this piece with Andre because we got to create something with both of our artistic views and not just one persons ideas. In the end I felt we accomplished the task at hand and that it blended in well with nature. To me our project mirrored a nest of some sort and it really was a good choice to use the pale yellow straw against the bright green grass. The colors contrasted so well together! I really liked the physical work this project needed. 

This was our Final Project and we were able to choose what ever we wanted to do. I really was inspired by the Selfie Project we had done earlier in the semester and by my intelligent, messy boyfriend. I chose to create something for him that could express his mind and also my artistic skills. The green tones are possibly my favorite part of this project because it was extremely hard to get different green tones that complimented and transitioned well with the project. I chose to write my boyfriends homework exactly how he had written it, except, I tried to space the equations out evenly so that it would be more of a whole pattern/design. I used a grey pen to write the equation so that it would fade into the background and push the image into the foreground. This was a great artistic decision because it really made the pattern settle and the image pop! I absolutely loved this project and I am going to make more of the same type of portraits. I felt this was a great way to end the semester! 

This was our Card Game Project and we had various ways of completing it. I chose to create a game with shapes and memory properties. The materials I used were colored spray paints,bristol board,  card board, a computer, scissors, tape, pencil, and a ruler. The rules of my game were very simple. It is a two-player game and all you had to do was recreate the shape on the card with the cardboard shapes. The first one to complete the shape on the card, won that wrong. This was a competitive game, but it really was fun and challenging. I chose animals and people as the images because it felt appropriate for a card game. I was very please with how this project turned out and felt it could actually be a real game!

This was our Talisman/Symbol and Ritual Project. The objective was to create a symbol with our initials and then apply it to one of our rituals. I chose to make this tiny nature man with my initials and apply it to my very favorite talent, wheel throwing and sgraffito. I created a time lapse video showing the process of throwing a simple cup form, applying the different colored under-glazes, and then carving my talisman in to the dry clay videos. I am very sorry to say that my time lapse video was to big of a file to upload, but I provided some pictures of before and after carving. I really enjoyed doing this project and it was by far the most rewarding. 

This was the end of the Selfie Project. The objective was to add texture and patterns with a white and black ink pen. I felt this did not add anything beautiful to my art piece, however, it was fun to play around with different patterns and designs. I really enjoyed doing each particular pattern although it was hard to decide whether the black or white ink would look good on various grey tones.
